What Is Changing in Grafton County for 2027?
For 2026, Grafton County had two Medicare Advantage organizations: WellSense and Humana. For 2027, WellSense is leaving New Hampshire’s Medicare Advantage market entirely, and Devoted Health is arriving.
Devoted Health was founded in 2017 and is entering New Hampshire for the first time. For 2027, it will serve three New Hampshire counties: Grafton, Sullivan, and Hillsborough. That means Grafton County residents will have Medicare Advantage plans from two organizations in 2027, Humana and Devoted Health, with a mix of HMO and PPO plan types.
Statewide, the Aetna (CVS Health) and WellSense exits affect more than 14,200 people, according to the New Hampshire Insurance Department. If you have a WellSense plan, you should have received a non-renewal letter. Keep it, since it confirms your special enrollment rights.
What About Dartmouth Health?
For many Grafton County residents, Dartmouth Health is at the center of their care, including Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. Dartmouth Health’s insurance page lists Devoted Health Medicare Advantage as available to residents of Grafton, Sullivan, and Hillsborough counties.
Whatever plan you consider, check each of your doctors, specialists, and hospitals before you enroll. That includes local hospitals such as Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, Littleton Regional Healthcare, Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth, and Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, plus any providers you see across the river in Vermont.
What Are Your Options for 2027?
You have two main paths. The right fit depends on your doctors, your prescriptions, your budget, and how much cost you want to carry when you need care.
What Are the Key Dates?
What Steps Should You Take Today?
-
Find your Annual Notice of Change, or your WellSense non-renewal letter if your plan is ending.
-
Update your medication list with each drug, dosage, how often you fill it, and your pharmacy.
-
List your doctors and hospitals, including Dartmouth Health providers, local hospitals, and any providers in Vermont.
-
Decide what matters most to you: the lowest monthly premium, predictable costs, the widest choice of doctors, or extra benefits.
-
Book a review before November fills up, so you can compare the Humana and Devoted Health plans and Medigap options side by side.
Where Does Insurance Planning Fit In?
A new option is a reason to review, not a reason to switch automatically. A sound review starts with your health, your doctors, and your budget, then looks at plans.
If you choose a Medicare Advantage plan, look closely at its hospital copays and yearly out-of-pocket maximum. Some people add a Hospital Indemnity Plan (HIP), which pays a set cash benefit for a covered hospital stay, to help with those costs. If you choose Original Medicare, plan your Medigap application and Part D enrollment together so both start on January 1.
An independent agent can show you the Humana and Devoted Health plans available in your ZIP code alongside Medigap and Part D options, check your doctors and prescriptions against each, and explain the trade-offs in plain language.
What To Do Next
Whether you’re curious about Devoted Health or your WellSense plan is ending, don’t wait until December. Gather your plan letters, your medication list, and your doctor list, and schedule a review this month.
