In order to assist Medicare eligible individuals who are taking obesity drugs, CMS is launching the Medicare GLP1 Bridge Program effective July 1st.

The program is officially an extension of Medicare’s Drug Coverage benefit (known as Part D). It applies to you regardless of whether you have a Medicare Advantage or a Medicare Supplement plan as long as you have Part D coverage.

NEW CMS Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program is Effective July 1st

What is the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program?

Provides eligible Medicare beneficiaries with access to certain GLP-1 drugs between July 1, 2026, and December 31, 2027 at a Co-Pay of $50 per month.

What GLP-1 drugs are available?

  • Fundayo® (tablets),
  • Wegovy® (injection and tablets)
  • Zepbound® (KwikPen®) 

Note: Prior Authorization by a PCP is required. The PCP must attest that the clinical criteria has been met which includes a BMI of greater than or equal to 35 or lower BMI levels of 30 or 27 with additional contributing medical conditions.
